Car Charge Times - How Long to Fill Your Battery?

With an electric car plug standard about to be finalized, and charging stations beginning to pop up in the U.S. and Europe, an important question to ask is: How long will it take to fill up a car battery? And like most technical matters, the answer is, "It depends."

Automobile batteries, whether they are nickel-metal hydride or lithium-ion, can be made up of many cells, with larger cell quantities capable of a larger storage capacity. The trade off, however, is that cars with more capacity are more expensive, heavier, produce more heat and take longer to charge. Battery life is also influenced by how "deeply" the battery charges and discharges. For example, the Toyota Prius only allows its battery to be charged to 80% of full capacity, as going beyond this point can lead to overheating (thermal runaway) and excessive gassing, resulting in a decline in battery life. All this means that the type of car you own will play a factor.

The other major factor in charge times is the type of charging system being used. The standard wall socket in most U.S. garages outputs 120 Volts at 20 Amps of current. Multiplying these units together provides the Watts, or energy per unit of time. With this amount of power, it could take a whole night (8+ hours) to get the full electrical storage into a battery. Typical European outlets produce 230 Volts at around 16 Amps, perhaps shaving a couple hours off charging times.

For car owners wanting to drive far distances without the impossible hassle of waiting 8 hours between charges, there are a couple options available. In the U.S., plug-in charging stations will provide thick power cables that make it possible to deliver the 240 Volts at 70 Amps that the plug standard is designed to handle - this would make it possible to fully charge a vehicle in an hour or two. In Europe, the plug specifications provide for 400 Volts at 63 Amps. Theoretically, this can allow a waiting time measured in mere minutes! However, with that sort of power, there is a real risk of battery damage.

Home owners also have the option of using the high powered connections in their homes that are reserved for equipment such as air conditioners. They may also buy extra equipment, like personal charging stations, at a steep price. Unfortunately, residents who live in apartment buildings will not have access to many of these options.

For individuals who only drive short distances each day, simply charging their car overnight shoud be practical and simple. Other prospective buyers will have to take into account the charging options available to them, as well as the vehicle itself. And in the not-so-distant future, advancements in battery technology can be expected to further change the equation.

Venture Capital companies and Investor Owned Utilities (IOU) invest in electric-vehicle charging infrastructure. Some stations include covered solar panel charging stations. Cities across America are implementing electric vehicle (EV) charging station in downtown areas and suburbs fostering support for electric cars.

This green energy momentum is very visible. Will this market ever complete with gas stations? Lawmakers in Washington passed a bill to allow electric power utilities and IOU's to invest in the electric-vehicle charging sector. These investments receive the usual rate of return approved by the PUC.

Regulators in many states not prohibited investor-owned utilities from selling electricity at retail charging stations. Can anyone envision pulling into a Shell or BP Station to find electric vehicle charging stations situated near the air compressors? When will the changes in the automobile industry be reflected in the gas station industry? Electric cars travel 75 to 179 miles on a charge. This problem currently prohibits cross-country travel in electric vehicles.

There are over 23,000 charging stations in the U.S. This infrastructure cost investment exceeds $130 million. These infrastructure costs decrease as technology improves and public support increases. Large areas across Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California are great states for this new investment.

Utilities operate large transmission and electrical grids and invest in major infrastructure projects. They are ideal investors and backers for building out charging station networks. Investors could include the automobile companies with large electric vehicle divisions.

This type of investment is permissible in the deregulated subsidiaries of Electric Investor Owned Utilities like ConEd Solutions, NRG, and DTE Energy Investments. The returns can be higher and often better or more efficient technology can be found in this area of venture capital. The return on investment in small and medium sized towns could be 8% to 12%. Many cities will want to own and control these investments. Data generated from these stations will help city managers place more as demand increases.

The green energy markets are expanding in commercial and industrial business. Imagine major corporations installing many EV recharging stations as part of their annual employee goodwill expenditures. This will happen soon.

Will pension fund money enter into this sector? Hedge funds and other energy investment investors will enter this arena as the electric vehicles market matures https://evchargingsolutions.net/. Ford, Toyota, and Tesla are selling many electric vehicles. This makes sense in a country filled with environmentalists and a nation determined to do the right thing in moving our auto industry forward.

Why Did Boxing Leave The News?

What happens in the world of boxing.

As I do happen to have an extreme interest in all kind of sports, I also have watched a lot of boxing in my time. Now I wonder what happens to the sport of boxing. Before I did not have to look up or search for any of the information I feel that I need (it really is needed for me).

I watched my boxing at Eurosprt on tv, and combined with the sports news I was always updated. Now I really have to look for my information and read special boxing news reports to stay updated. I do not know if this is common all over the globe, but in Norway boxing has disappeared. I know it's not the lack of Norwegian Boxers cause they have not been involved in the top anyway, but I wonder if it has something to do with the eastern countries dominating the sport.

I have to say that I'm the kind of person that follows almost everything that happens in the world of sports without dedicating too much time for each and every niche. I mostly get my main information from, as said before, the news. I simply do not have the time to read every website and magazine to get all the detailed information.

Back to the sport of boxing. It seems to me that boxing more or less disappeared from the regular news when the Russians took the heavyweight titles. I remember when we had champions from the western countries and the build-up for the big title fights covered by everyone. Now I feel lucky if I get to know the result of a match for the heavyweight title.

To be honest, I hear more about Mike Tyson than I do about the Russian monster Valujev or the Klitsko brothers. What did happen? Did the western countries lose their interest of the sport? Do we need a new Mike Tyson or Evander Holyfield to wake the journalists again?

I remember the days when all the news hyped up the tension before a fight and it was like I needed to see the match to get the result as quick as possible. I could stay up all night waiting for the event that took place in a different timezone. Now they don't even mention the result in the morning news anymore.

All I have to say is that I want boxing back in the spotlight. I know there are huge sports to compete with about the press coverage, but at least a few sentences. Maybe Don King slowed down on his hype now, but I believe we need more of it to get the people follow boxing again.

Sports writer jobs are a type of reporting that informs on sporting events and topics. While the sporting department in a few newspapers have been scornfully named the toy department, as sports correspondents do not worry themselves with 'serious' topics done by news desks, sports reporting has also developed in significance as sport has developed in influence, wealth and power.

Sports writer jobs are a crucial part of a news media association. Sports writing consist of associations devoted purely to sports reporting -newspapers like, La Gazette Dello Sport in Italy, L'Equipe in France, Sporting Life in Britain, and the Marca in Spain. American periodicals such as Sporting News Sports, and the Illustrated, TV networks like as The Sports Network (TSN), Euro sport and ESPN; and all-sports talk radio stations.

In the professional and sometimes even amateur sports in the US, it is regular practice to permit properly credited sports reporters in locker rooms to get interviews with coaching staff and players after games, as the sports teams give wide information support. Sports together with ice hockey, American football, baseball and basketball appreciate the essential marketable association amid media coverage and better ticket, retail and marketing sales.

In other places of the world, chiefly in the reporting of European football, the correspondent's job frequently appears to be scarcely accepted by the players and the clubs. For example, in spite of contractual media necessities in the Barclays Premier League in England, prominent coaches Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) and Harry Red Knapp (first Portsmouth, now Tottenham Hotspur), declined to carry out post-match talks on events with the rights holder BBC because of apparent unfavorable coverage.

As reporters on different news beats, sports reporting should engage investigating the account, rather than merely depending on prepared statements and press releases from the players, sports team, or coaching staff. Sports writer jobs are estimated to confirm facts handed out to them by the leagues, athletes or teams.

Major League Baseball gave print reporters special part in the games. They were given the name official scorers and kept stats that were deemed a fraction of the authorized record of the league. Active sports writers were ousted from this job in 1980. Though their stats judgment labels could not have an effect on the result of a game, the giving of errors and wins or saves were considered as powerful influences on staff selections & play lists while coach decisions appeared odd. The deduction of writers, who would benefit monetarily from astounding sports stories, was completed to remove this view of a clash of interest, and statistics volume, accuracy and consistency.

Sports Writer job articles frequently rise above the sport themselves and tackle socio political significance: Jackie Robinson who broke the color barrier in the sport baseball is a good example of this. Modern debates concerning the hyper compensation of top sportspersons, the employment of anabolic steroids and such banned performance enhancing drugs, the price to national and local administrations to construct sporting venues and infrastructure, especially for the Olympic Games, also demonstrates how sports could encroach on to the gossip pages.
